About UmbrellaOffice

Who:

Developed by RawSpaceLab a creative real estate development group focused on adaptive reuse, fringe neighborhoods, network synergy and all things made of brick.

What:

A selective membership office designed for serious independent freelancers and small business owners/employees.  Each office has a limited number of memeberships available.  The goal is to have enough people around to create a pleasant working atmosphere but never be crowded.  The space is designed to accomdate varying work styles.  Sit at a traditional desk in the morning to crunch through email.  Read on our plush Italian sofa in the afternoon and work through a design session on our large work bench in the evening.

Internet, purified spring water, coffee and tea provided.  (Bring your own mug:)

Where:

Gowanus.  The post industrial neighborhood between Park Slope and Carroll Gardens.  Located on 8th St. between 2nd and 3rd Ave.  The Gowanus canal snakes through the neighborhood posing the tempting challenge of how to reuse the industrial wasteland for a new generation of residential and commercial activity.  Developers aplenty have stepped up to the plate to take part in the transformation of Gowanus.  It is an exciting manifestation of the old New York, new New York dichotomy.

When:

Opening 1 February 2008.
